The wait was over and my 2nd attunement day was here. It was again a truly wonderful experience and I learned a lot during the day about what is expected of a Reiki practitioner. We started the morning with a guided meditation from Debra Goldston who hosted the day, which helped set us up and energise ourselves for an intense day of learning and discovery.
We then discussed what a therapist would require, there is so much to think about and put in to practice before the far easier task of giving Reiki! Here s a list of things you need to take in to account:
Therapy couch, blankets, couch covers, pillows, candles, music, crystals, hand sanitiser, couch paper and tissue paper. I'm sure my fellow therapist's will put me straight on things I have forgotten.
At the end of the day its the experience for your client that is of upper most importance. The feeling and ambiance created can help your treatment start on the right foot and the less clinical the area is the more welcoming it can be perceived and the more likely your client will relax more and hopefully repeat book.
We then set up our designated area's before running through a Reiki session with a dummy client (Sorry Anna and Lizie!) This was a good learning curve because I struggled in certain area's and need to be more confident in the questions and answers i give the client prior to the treatment. My clients hair was an issue that I hadnt even spotted until I had started the treatment because of the style of hair I was pulling it when placing my hands which irritated poor Anna! Luckily for me I did manage to complete my treatment and she reported feeling much heat and relaxation during and after. The following day she reported that in the evening she felt full of life, so I'm pleased with my first treatment's outcome.
After lunch we recieved our Reiki Level 2 attunement. It was very similar to the first attunement only the experience was intensified by a great golden and silver light and was oozing with love and compassion. It really was an intense heart warming experience. my hands where really hot with heat and I could feel a difference in the reiki intensity. It is very difficult to put in to words your feelings after an attunement and I don't think I have done it justice. Its safe to say its addictive!
We then disussed how to send distance healing. Which was an interesting area of Reiki. Anybody at any time can recieve Reiki, all that is required is your intention to do so and an open mind. I know it will be difficult for some people to comprehend that this can be done at distance but I have to say after trying it, I can safely say that it does work!
It was a great day crammed full with information and practical help. I look forward to starting my case studies and qualify properly.
My interest in spirituality has blossomed over the last 10 years with frequent visits to our local spiritualist churches and endless hours of reading literature and web research about different spiritual subjects. I then became interested in alternative therapies and in particular the ancient art of Reiki. You can follow my blog by adding your email address and it will update you when I post something new.
